A Fresh Start in Salford: Our Stories, Our Community Wall of Remembrance

Our A Fresh Start in Salford: Our Stories – A Community Wall of Remembrance event was a beautiful multicultural and diverse celebration, bringing together people who have made Salford their home.

As part of Refugee Week, the day created a welcoming space for people to share their experiences of life in Salford through storytelling, crafting, games, conversation, pictures and friendship. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of belonging, connection, care and community cohesion.

We are grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the day so special. Thank you for sharing your stories, your time and your presence. Moments like this show the strength, resilience and richness of our community.

A special thank you to our wonderful volunteers, Ellick, Sara and Ronke, who helped to plan, support and deliver the event so smoothly. Your dedication made a real difference.

We would also like to thank Dr Jo from the University of Salford, Jean-Claude from Health Improvement, and Dr Ola from Connect Talent CIO for joining us and contributing to the day. It was also a great opportunity for attendees to have their blood pressure checked as part of the Know Your Numbers message, supporting awareness around health and wellbeing.

Thank you very much to Salford ESOL, Salford Career and Skills, GM ESOL, and the Refugee Welcome Programme for this great opportunity to bring people together and celebrate Refugee Week in such a meaningful way.

A day of belonging, connection, storytelling, crafting, games, community cohesion, friendship, care and wellbeing.

We love Salford, and we are proud to be part of a community where every story matters.
