Our Week in a Nutshell: Blessings, New Beginnings, and Creativity

What a week it has been at Salford Community Upskilling! Looking back at the last seven days, we are filled with gratitude. It was a week packed with spiritual grounding, practical support, future planning, and pure creative joy.

Here is a look at what we got up to:

Tuesday, 27th January: A Special Start
We began the week with a beautiful moment as we welcomed Father Ian of St James’s RC Parish to bless our office. It was a wonderful way to set the intentions for our work.

Following the blessing, we dove straight into supporting our community. We handled 5 initial caseworks, provided support for a CV and job application to help someone take their next career step, and gifted 5 SIM cards to ensure our members stay connected with their loved ones and essential services.

Wednesday, 28th January: Behind the Scenes
Mid-week was dedicated to essential admin tasks. It’s the quiet work that keeps our programmes running smoothly and ensures we can continue to serve you best.

Thursday, 29th January: Cooking Up Ideas
We had a fantastic meeting regarding our Cultural Cooking Project. We sat down with the team from Marathon Cafe and other groups to plan future events. We can’t wait to share the delicious details with you soon!

Friday, 30th January: English Enrolment
As mentioned in our previous post, Friday was a huge success. We hosted our English Conversation Enrolment at Holm Court. It was lovely to see 15 attendees, resulting in 10 enrolments. We are thrilled to welcome back 5 previous learners and say hello to 5 brand new faces.

Saturday, 31st January: Creativity and Wellbeing
We finished the week on a high note with our Wellbeing Matters session. We hosted a “Baby Dolls Making” workshop, and the results were simply heartwarming.

It was a session of laughter and concentration as incredible women from across the city and the globe came together to handcraft beautiful dolls.
