Our Week in 8 Seconds

Last week at Salford Community Upskilling was full of learning, conversation, reflection and community support.

We began the week on Monday 4 May with the Bank Holiday, while our English TEFL session continued to support learners with their language development.

On Wednesday 6 May, our Digital Connect session took place, helping people build confidence with digital skills. No photo was taken, but the learning and support continued as always.

On Friday 8 May, our English Conversation group explored the topic of money and where we keep it. It was a useful and practical discussion, giving learners the chance to practise everyday English in a supportive setting. Our English for Beginners session focused on routines, looking at what we do every day, every week, every month and every year.

Saturday was a busy and meaningful day. From 12 pm to 2 pm, we held Men’s Wellbeing Matters: Snacks and Chat, creating a welcoming space for men to connect, talk and support one another.

From 2 pm to 4 pm, we hosted a focus group on life after an asylum case, giving people the opportunity to share experiences and discuss important next steps.

We finished the day from 4 pm to 6 pm with a Mental Health Awareness Session called You’re Not Alone. It was a powerful session of reflection, encouragement and community care.

At Salford Community Upskilling, our work is rooted in supporting our community, including asylum seekers and refugees, through English language, ICT, interpreting and employability skills, helping people gain the confidence and knowledge they need to integrate into society.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported and contributed throughout the week.
