From Art to Action: A Heartwarming Monday with the Family

Following our recent post about the incredible #YourSalford100 exhibition, we wanted to share a little more about what our group got up to yesterday during our special visit to the Salford Museum and Art Gallery.

It was a day defined by culture, connection, and community spirit.

A Warm Welcome at the Museum
Our group gathered at the museum specifically to explore ‘Family Group’—the art object we were honoured to choose for the exhibition. Seeing it in person sparked wonderful conversations about what family and community mean to all of us, which is at the very heart of what we do at Salford Community Upskilling.

We were absolutely spoiled by the museum team. We want to say a massive thank you to Eve, Claire, and Carrie for your incredible hospitality. The warm welcome, the hot coffee, and the delicious cakes from the café made us feel right at home. It was a delight to visit the exhibition and see our community represented within those walls.

Digital Skills and Sharing at Loaves and Fishes
After nourishing our souls with art (and our stomachs with cake!), we headed over to Salford Loaves and Fishes for our regular Monday digital session.

At SCU, we believe that integration is about more than just language; it’s about having the digital confidence to navigate modern life. It was great to see everyone engaging with the session.

To round off a productive day, we were able to share a fantastic collection of healthy food with our attendees. A huge shout-out to Aldi UK and Lidl GB, facilitated by Neighbourly, for their donations. Being able to provide fresh, healthy food is a vital part of supporting our learners and their families.

It was a perfect example of collaborative working—from the gallery floor to the classroom, working together to support diversity, inclusion, and empowerment in Salford.
