A Week of Connection: Training Leaders, Bridging Divides, and Knitting for a Cause!

What a whirlwind of a week it’s been! From the click of knitting needles to the buzz of new technology, our community has been a hive of positive action. We’re thrilled to share a few highlights from a week filled with learning, giving, and connection.

Getting Crafty for a Great Cause: The Big Knit

Our incredible volunteers have been busy with their knitting needles for a wonderful cause! We were delighted to take part in The Big Knit project to support the fantastic work of Salford and Trafford Age UK.

Together, our community knitted and donated an amazing 48 tiny hats! These little creations will soon sit on top of Innocent Smoothie bottles in shops, helping to raise vital funds for older people in our area. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed their time and woolly creations!

Stepping Up: Training Our New Walk Leaders

Getting ready for the great outdoors! Last week, we hosted a fantastic Walk Leader training session in partnership with the experts at The Ramblers. Our aspiring leaders learned essential skills to guide our walking groups safely and confidently, ensuring everyone can enjoy the benefits of a good walk together.

Want to join them? You’re in luck! Our next training session is just around the corner.

  • What: Walk Leader Training with The Ramblers
  • When: This Saturday, July 5th, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

If you’re interested in leading walks and joining our brilliant team, please get in touch for more details!

Bridging the Digital Divide with a Smile

Breaking down digital barriers, one click at a time! This week, we held our Innovative Digital Learning Session, and it was a brilliant example of community connection. Our tech-savvy young volunteers were on hand to support members of our older generations, helping them build confidence and explore new technology.

From asking questions on an Alexa Echo Show 5 to exploring new worlds with VR headsets, the room was filled with discovery and “aha!” moments. These sessions are designed to help everyone learn new skills, access health information, and boost their everyday confidence with technology.

A special thank you to our funders, Salford City Council and Salford CVS, whose support makes these vital sessions possible.
