A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Salford Community

As we look back on our recent Christmas celebrations, the team at Salford Community Upskilling is feeling overwhelmed by the incredible kindness and generosity shown to our members.

Our mission has always been to support our community—including asylum seekers and refugees—by giving them the skills and confidence to integrate into society. However, this festive season, it was the community that supported us, proving just how powerful we can be when we stand together.

We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to the many friends, partners, and neighbours who made this Christmas so special for our families.

Making Wishes Come True

A massive thank you goes to the wonderful community of Stretford. Thanks to your generosity, facilitated by Neighbourly and Lidl GB, we received over 150 toys. Seeing the joy these gifts brought to children and families was truly the highlight of our holiday.

A Festive Feast

No celebration is complete without food, and we were well-fed this year!

  • Thank you to Aldi UK for helping to feed us this year.
  • To the Asda Foundation, thank you for providing the healthy desserts that finished off our meal perfectly.
  • A special mention must go to the residents of Swinton, who kindly donated items. Your small acts of kindness made a big difference.

Coming Together

Community is about connection, and we have many people to thank for strengthening those bonds:

  • Forever Manchester for bringing us all together to celebrate.
  • Salford Loaves and Fishes and Salford Credit Union for the lovely presents given to our members.

Distinguished Guests and Supporters

We were honoured to share our celebration with so many supportive faces. A huge shout-out to everyone who supported us through their presence and helped enlighten the day, including:

  • Salford City Council Deputy Ceremonial Mayor, Cllr Garrido
  • Cllr Maria Brabiner and Cllr Nkurunziza
  • SCC Officers
  • Staff from Pendleton Together and Salford CVS
  • Our dedicated volunteers, members, and the wider community.

Our Partners and Friends

Finally, we want to acknowledge the individuals and organisations who stand by us in our mission to provide English language, ICT, and employability skills. Thank you to:

  • Noelle Yolande
  • Gratias Mukwaya MfumuNkento
  • Good Things Foundation
  • Salford ESOL
  • ForHousing Salford
  • Connect Talent CIO

Thank you all for helping us end the year on such a high note. Your support helps us continue our vital work in giving people the knowledge and confidence to thrive in Salford.

Here’s to a wonderful New Year!
