Employability Skills in Action: Empowering Our Community

Our learners explored their past experiences, reflected on their current situation and mapped out their future goals at our latest Employability Skills session.

Through the session, they identified valuable strengths, recognised transferable skills and took positive steps towards their future success.

Led by Mishal Saeed, the session guided participants through a simple but powerful idea: a career goal is not the same as a next step. Learners set out their long-term ambitions — for example, “I would like to work as a teacher” — and then broke them down into practical actions, such as improving their English, understanding UK requirements, gaining experience and applying.

The room was full of energy and honest reflection. Learners looked at where they have come from, where they are now and where they want to be, and left with a clearer sense of how to get there. One session a week soon seemed too small: participants were so engaged that they requested more sessions each week.

Thank you to Mishal Saeed for leading the session, and well done to everyone who has taken the decision to embark on this journey to upskill themselves. Your commitment is an inspiration.

Thank you also to Salford ESOL and Salford City Council for their continued support.
