Yesterday, Monday 16th March, the Salford Community Upskilling team had an absolutely brilliant day at Pendleton Gateway for the Live Well Festival. We want to start by saying a massive thank you to Salford Loaves and Fishes for organising such a wonderful and vibrant event. It was a day truly dedicated to exploring all the ways we can support our community to ‘Live Well’, and we were thrilled to be a part of it!

Bridging the Digital Divide
As an organisation, our mission is to provide people with the tools they need to integrate and thrive in society. A huge part of that in today’s modern world is digital inclusion.
At our stall, we certainly didn’t miss the opportunity to help break down the #DigitalDivide. Thanks to the generous support of the Good Things Foundation and the brilliant #GetBox from Jangala, we were able to offer free mobile data (including O2, Vodafone, and Lebara SIM cards) to those who need it most. Having reliable access to the internet is a lifeline—it allows individuals to access our ICT and English courses, apply for jobs, and stay connected with loved ones.
Networking with Salford’s Finest
Events like this are a fantastic reminder of the incredible network of support we have here in Salford. We had lots of inspiring conversations and thoroughly enjoyed networking with our fellow community champions. It was a pleasure to connect with:
- Salford ESOL
- Salford City Council
- Salford CVS
- Forever Manchester
- Pendleton Together
A special shout-out and thank you as well to Lynne Harrison and Chantal Ngoy Musuamba for their time, connections, and shared dedication to the community.
A Huge Thank You to Our Volunteers! 😊
We couldn’t do what we do without the people who generously give their time to our cause. A very special thank you goes out to our wonderful volunteers who supported us at our stall. Your hard work, warm smiles, and dedication made the day a resounding success.
About Salford Community Upskilling
For those who might have just discovered us at the festival, Salford Community Upskilling aims to help and support our local community, particularly asylum seekers and refugees. We do this through the provision of English language and ICT courses, interpreting services, and employability skills training. Our ultimate goal is to equip individuals with the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to fully and happily integrate into society.
Thank you again to everyone who stopped by to say hello. Let’s continue working together to make Salford a welcoming, connected, and upskilled community for all!
