Creativity, Connection, and Community: Highlights from Our Latest Wellbeing Session

There is something truly special about gathering around a table, sharing stories, and creating something beautiful together.

At Salford Community Upskilling, our recent session was buzzing with energy, laughter, and the busy sounds of creativity. As part of our “Wellbeing Matters” initiative—run in partnership with Salford City Council and Salford CVS—we brought members of our diverse community together for an afternoon of arts, crafts, and connection.

More Than Just Arts & Crafts

As you can see from the video of the event, the room was packed! Participants gathered to work on fabric crafts, doll-making, and sewing. But these sessions are about so much more than thread and needle.

For many of our members—including asylum seekers, refugees, and local residents—these Saturdays are a lifeline. They are a safe space to:

  • Practice English in a relaxed, natural environment.
  • Build Confidence through “sit and strengthen” activities.
  • Share Culture through music, dance, and art.
  • Combat Isolation by making new friends.

Together We Are Stronger

The popularity of these sessions is growing every week, and we are deeply moved by the trust our community places in us. However, we cannot do this alone. It takes a village to build a community, and we are incredibly grateful to our network of sponsors and partners who make this work possible.

A massive thank you to:
