United in Hope: The Refugee Welcome Programme Partnership Event

At Salford Community Upskilling, we believe that community is built through connection, collaboration, and a shared commitment to helping others thrive. Recently, we were honored to represent @TeamSalford at the Refugee Welcome Programme Partnership Event, a gathering that brought together partners from all 10 Greater Manchester Local Authorities.

It was an inspiring room to be in—filled with individuals and organisations dedicated to making our region a sanctuary for those fleeing injustice.

Stronger Together: Team Salford

We were proud to sit alongside our incredible local partners who work tirelessly to support our community. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect and share ideas with friends and colleagues from:

  • Salford City Council
  • Salford Loaves and Fishes
  • Salford ESOL
  • Little Hulton Community Centre

Seeing the breadth of support available in Salford—from essential needs to education—reminded us of the strength of our local network.

A Message from the Mayor: “Hope, not Hate”

A true highlight of the event was a virtual address by Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester. His words resonated deeply with everyone in the room.

It was a poignant reminder that by welcoming refugees, we are continuing a proud regional legacy of choosing hope over hate.

Our Commitment

For us at Salford Community Upskilling, this event reinforced why we do what we do. Our mission is to empower migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and digitally excluded individuals.

Whether it is through our comprehensive training in essential English language and ICT skills, our mental health awareness sessions, or our engaging arts and culture programs, we are dedicated to helping our new neighbors build confidence.

We left the event feeling energised and grateful to be part of a city and a region that opens its arms to those in need. Thank you to the organisers and to our partners in Team Salford for standing with us.
